Kodiak has numerous hiking opportunities. Abercrombie State Park has easy trails, great views and lots of history. See the old guns and buildings from WWII, while taking in the sights. A harbor walk is a great way to get up close to the many commercial fishing boats that supply the world with fresh seafood.
Near Island, Pillar Mountain, as well as the many beaches, all offer a great opportunity to get out and connect with nature. Remember to be conscious of your surroundings, as the big bears can be anywhere,
If you feel like something extra, a floatplane trip is an experience to be remembered. Several companies offer flights from an hour long or day trips for bear viewing, in some of the most remote places in the world. We would be happy to help you arrange any extracurricular activities.
